10 Essential Tips to keep your Email Marketing Alive

note-34686_640I’m a member on many forums and I have been hearing a lot lately that email marketing is “dead” or not working any more or open rates are at an all-time low. Today I’m going to give you 10 essential tips to remember when emailing your list to show you email marketing isn’t “dead”, increase your open rates and increase your revenue.

Email them regularly

You need to stay in regular contact with your list! This is what some marketers don’t get. Lets say for example you didn’t contact your best friend or partner for more than a week, what would they think? Would they like it? Of course not, you need to regular contact with them to maintain a relationship otherwise they might you have dropped off the face of the earth.

Value DON’T abuse

Don’t use your list because you want something from them, treat them with respect not a quick fix for your cash flow problems.

Provide relevant content

You need to value every person on your list, don’t send emails that are not relevant to your target audience because they won’t open it. You will be wasting your time, money and not see a return. And you will lose your creditability.

Test, test and test

ALWAYS test your emails before sending them, test your links and your appearance of the emails. Doing this gives a positive, professional impression on your audience.

Good subject title

Make it catchy so people will want to open your emails. Think what would make you open the email, an offer, bonus or a deal etc.

Be Creative

This ties with the above point, hundreds of emails hit your customer’s inbox on a daily basis, possibly even promoting the same product. What makes your email stand out, what makes it different, why should your customers read it? Remember to offer value in your emails, bonuses, encourage engagement and welcome feedback.

Take deliverability failure seriously

A lot of Marketers over look this or don’t mention it. But you have to this seriously!!! Many Marketers focus on the return they get, click through rate etc, but failure rates – this is just as important to see why emails are failing to deliver as you are losing out on a lot of money.

Make it easy to unsubscribe

You might think this an odd one, but you should make it easy for people to unsubscribe to your list as this prevents complaints and emails being reported.

Be Mobile

Make sure your emails can be read on mobile devices like smart phones and tablets as more and more people are accessing their mail on mobile devices make sure your emails can be displayed properly on PC’s, laptops, smartphones and tablets.

A Call to action

Create a call to action, don’t let be a hard sell make it a deal they can’t refuse!!!

Acting on these essential tips will ensure your email open rate increases, your click through increase and your income sky rockets 🙂

    Hi Tasleem

    As Edward said – great to see a straight-forward post instead of something too technical!

    I am a LOT more selective about signing up to and opening emails these days, but there are some people’s emails I WILL open. However I do like them to identify themselves. That may sound obvious, but I get a lot of emails and in the subject/email I haven’t a clue who they’re from LOL So they get ignored!
